This is the first book for Amelia Adams and it's one of those books you NEVER want to put down! Amelia's writing style is above reproach and very creative. It holds your attention and does not bore you. I didn't want to put my Kindle down while reading this book.The hero and heroine are so well suited for one another, and Adam Brody (the hero) is the perfect man that every woman would want n her life... but his kind are few and far between. The heroine, Elizabeth Caldwell needs a man like Adam in her life.
This book is heart warming, comical, and frightening at times. If you LOVE Western Historical Romance, this is a MUST READ for you! Amelia's book #2 for the Kansas Crossroads Series is coming out 05/15/2015. Yous will not be disappointed in buying this book. Amelia has five (5) books scheduled for this series, all of which will become live by the end of the year. So, we'll be able to enjoy Amelia's writing four more times this year.

I just discovered this author and I really enjoyed the first book in her ongoing series. It's well written, with plenty of details about life in Kansas in 1875 and has very likable characters including Wyatt Earp, who makes a cameo appearance. Adam Brody and his aunt Caroline have purchased a large and wealthy abandoned private home and plan to turn it into a restaurant and hotel and this first book introduces us to the employees he hires who will star in future storylines. Reading Adam and Elizabeth's sweet period romance was very enjoyable and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series by Amelia C. ADAMS.
After I read A new Beginning I was hooked on this series of books!! Amelia C. Adams is a very talented writer! Her books draw you into the time period with so many details about the town and the new hotel they are getting ready to open by the train station in Topeka. The books are each about a different person from the hotel and their life background and how they find love. You feel you are right there in the town with all the many wonderful characters in her stories! When her books come to an end you can't wait to read the next book in the series. The books in this series are all tied together woven into multiple stories of romance, danger, suspense, happiness and love. I highly recommend this author to anyone that loves clean romance! She is one of the best Authors I have ever read!
I enjoyed this story very much.
Adam Brody, a man who has inherited some money, and his Aunt Caroline who has told him to invest it in something. Adam decides to buy a run down Mansion in Topeka, KS where the railroad comes through at a major junction. Deciding he needs his Aunt with him brings her to help with the investment, which at first sight she is a little worried this investment might go south seeing how much work would need to be done to turn this idea of a hotel in a reality. When Adam Brody looks to hire help, it seems the workers all happen upon his advertisement as fate would only do.
Elizabeth Caldwell, our main female role in the story, is a widow, with a 2 month old baby, who has her mother living with her in a run down home. She is trying to find a job, in a town made by men for men. She has even put in word back East with friends she would like to be a governess but was rudely reminded with a baby she would not be a good fit. Seeking a job, and getting a little desperate she comes across the ad for the hotel when her mother gives her a newspaper. However the ad is for single women meaning he probably doesn't want someone with a baby. Yet, she feels drawn to go and talk to him, and omits having a child, yet ends up telling him that she needs to check on her mother during the day so she can go home to feed her child.
So in the middle of the other girls coming to work there, and getting the hotel ready to open, there are some men after Elizabeth and there are scary moments for her in the story. She does suffer a major tragedy and Adam does come to know about the baby. Yet, there are sparks between them. Should they pursue the love interest? Will he still want her when he finds out about the baby? Will they catch the men trying to hurt Elizabeth? A wonderful read, please don't hesitate to join in on this journey.
I was quickly drawn into the dream behind A New Beginning. Where most people saw a run down dilapidated old mansion Adam saw a hotel that could offer meals and rooms to the masses of people who would be heading West… on the railroad right near by. With Adam’s enthusiasm and his Aunt Caroline’s more practical approach it was impossible to not get caught up in this dream of Adam’s.
Elizabeth is also looking for a new start. A recent widow with a young baby, Elizabeth has the care of the two most precious people in her hands – her daughter and her frail mother. Jobs are hard to come by in this town, well, jobs that don’t involve a saloon and that is not something Elizabeth is willing to do. An advertisement catches her eye. It really is a last chance gamble she’s taking for the new hotel owner specifically is asking for single ladies to work his hotel as staff and waitresses. Yet desperate times call for a few misleading statements, and for her family Elizabeth will skim the truth in order to provide for them.
I enjoyed A New Beginning very much. We’ll meet several of the people who will have their stories told within this series as Adam and Caroline staff the new hotel. Their introductions were natural to the story and made perfect sense along the way. Add in a few real life historical figures, some bad news outlaws, and a simmering romance and you have me hooked from the start. Adam and Elizabeth make a great founding couple for this series, and I’m looking forward to some binge reading to get caught up in their adventure with the Brody Hotel, along with its residents.
